One more tip. Check the search engines link popularity tools and see who they have indexed that links to you too. Great blog and site. You are right on the mark that many links are not worth the effort, there are many scammers out there that are attempting to take advantage of people not in the know. Your blog and links shows how to catch those people.

I’ve noticed that google is penalizing or taking many link farms out of their index altogether. This is good for everyone, but as you say, we have to keep checking those links.
